I started painting in August of 2003, without any previous art experience, motivated by a desire to have original artwork on my walls.
I picked up a few canvas boards and some basic oil painting supplies at a local framing shop, set up an old music stand as an easel, and the journey began. I quickly realized I needed more information so I went to the library. I read, and reread, books on landscape painting technique by various authors. All of them stressed the importance of painting outdoors, in front of the subject. I've been painting outdoors ever since.
In 2013 I quit my construction job to paint full time.
I show my work at STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco and Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento.
